Daily Devotional for Thursday February 07, 2019

James 5:19-20 “My brethren, if any among you strays from the truth and one turns him back, 20 let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.” (NASB)

Day 4

Day 4 of Iron sharpening iron, and today’s verse and devotion are a follow up to yesterdays, be sure to go back and read it! Yesterday, we spoke about helping a brother back from a transgression, today’s verse gives us the ultimate reason. It states that when someone is turned back from sin, it will save his soul from death! As I stood before him, he breathed his last breath! Working in the fire department, as a first responder, I have witness death. There is no turning back from it, usually when a person takes their last breath, life on earth is over. I couldn’t help but think to myself if the man knew Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, but it was too late to ask. We may come across men who know Christ but have fallen away, “slipped” in their walk as godly men. Maybe we are in a state of slipping right now. Men helping turn men back to Christ, by words of encouragement, an “ask the hard question” small group, or simple sharing a cup of coffee and speaking the Truth, can help restore a man to where God wants them to be!
