1 Peter 1:13 – “Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” (NASB)
What was I thinking? It was mid-February when we decided to start the construction of an addition on our home. It didn't seem like such a big deal until I began to really think about what we were planning to do. We were going to tear the entire roof off our house and build a new second story in the middle of winter. I had prepared my mind for the action we were about to take, but the more I thought about it, the more I thought I must be crazy. Today's verse shares about preparing our minds for action, keeping a sober spirit, and fixing our hope completely on Christ. The construction project came out fine, but there are times in life where we may find ourselves ready for action, but our hope becomes cloudy. We begin to think about what if... how could we... it may not work out... When we fix our hope on Jesus Christ and the action He has called us to do, we will never question our actions. The key is keeping our hope completely in Him and not wavering with the "what ifs" of life. So are we completely fixing our hope in Him or ourselves? There is a big difference!
