Scripture:

Luke 8:17 – “For nothing is hidden that will not become evident, or anything secret that will not be known and come to light.” (NASB)

Observation:

"The reality is that some of you may not make it out alive." We never talked about it after that day, but we knew it was there. The sad reality is that every time the phone rang in the fire house, we knew that there might be that chance it would be our last call. Fire fighters never talk about it, but it weighs heavy on our hearts that with each fire call we respond to, there is that chance we may not make it home. It is kept in the secret of our hearts and many think if we don't talk about it, it will never come to pass. Today's verse speaks about nothing being hidden that will not become evident or anything in secret that will not be known and come to light... like the thought of a fire fighter never returning from a call. There are secret sins that men hold in their lives, and we think that if we don't talk about them they won't be found out. Nothing is further from the truth. Fire fighters protect themselves from the possibility of never making it out alive by staying trained, having plans in place, wearing the protective gear, and never going in alone. We must have the same attitudes and plans as we face the trials and temptations of life. We need to be trained in His Word, have a plan in place to flee from the temptation, wear the full armor of God, and never go alone. So who's your partner in battling the temptations of sin?
