Daily Devotional for Thursday February 08, 2018

Acts 1:8 (NASB) but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.

Why does it always happen? While doing some work on a customer's home, we had to turn the power off and use flashlights to see what we were doing. It always happens that the light slowly gets dimmer and dimmer... ugh, dead batteries. Today's verse speaks of receiving power when the Holy Spirit has come upon us, and for what purpose, but to be His witnesses. A dead flash light is no way to see what work needs to be done. If we go around not fully charged by the Holy Spirit, how can we be the best witness of His amazing love? We need to be fully charged to do the work we are called to do. When was the last time you charged your batteries? Don't wait till it's too late or you'll be in the dark! Get charged today. Seek the Holy Spirit's power. It's cheaper than the cost of batteries!

Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.

Family Devotion: Read this chapter with your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them and discuss. Pray with them.
