John 17:15 (NASB) I do not ask You to take them out of the world, but to keep them from the evil one.
“I just want to quit!” I was having trouble with a couple of boys as we played on the same team. It seemed that every time we interacted, I was the brunt of their jokes. While talking to my dad about quitting the team, he simply replied, "You can quit or you can stay and avoid them. It's really your choice, but I think you'll be sad if you quit.” Today's verse is part of Jesus' prayer for His friends that God wouldn't take them out of the world but keep them from the evil one. The advice my dad gave me about not quitting because I loved the game so much made me think. Was I giving these boys the power to make my decision? There will be times when things or people don't necessarily treat us the way we want or think we should be treated. We can either quit or stay and not give them the power to take from us from what we love. When Satan attacks, and he will attack, we can find comfort in the Holy Spirit's power to stand firm. We have a choice; so, make it a good one and enjoy the game!
