Daily Devotional for Saturday December 30, 2017

Psalm 71:18 (NASB) And even when I am old and gray, O God, do not forsake me, Until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to all who are to come.

“Watch your fingers, this machine bites!” While training at my new job on the press at a local magazine printing company, the grey-haired man walked me through each step. When he came to the cutter, he held up his hands. He was missing one finger on one hand and two on the other. That is when he mentioned that the machine bites. I love being in the company of older men. It’s selfish though; I love to learn from their mistakes. The example of those who have gone through life is precious and can teach us so much if we take the time to listen. Once we listen, it’s our turn to teach those in the next generation. Let’s hope the lessons we share aren’t’ the same ones that were shared with us—unless we learned from them and are wiser for it. What are we passing on? A simple question, but an important one.

Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.

Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them as you read. Talk about their answers and show them that one important aspect of this chapter is that we must continue to spend time with the Lord and keep our hearts focused on His plans and purposes. Pray for them.
