Daily Devotional for Monday December 03, 2018

Scripture:

1 John 2:16 “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.” (NASB)

Observation:

VICTORY OVER ADDICTION, a Men’s Ministries one-week daily devotional.

Day 1, December 3, 2018

He would do just about anything, even steal to get the money to afford his habit. We start the week with the theme of “Addiction Victory”. It may seem like we will be speaking of drugs, alcohol, or pornography but as we devote ourselves to this topic this week, we may find that anything which stands between us and God can be an addiction (an idol) where we need to be set free. When I first met Henry, all he talked about or wanted was his next high. Whether it was a new car, elicit drugs or alcohol his mind was consumed with it. Today’s verse says that God is displeased when men lust after flesh, possession, or power. Henry wanted to keep his high going so he sought after things he thought would help him stay high. But he never really satisfied his cravings. Only when he gave his life to Christ did he find the peace for which he was looking! Once he began to live for Christ, Henry found the greatest high in Jesus Christ!
