Mark 6:31 – “And He said to them, ‘Come away by yourselves to a secluded place and rest a while.’ (For there were many people coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat.)” (NASB)

At a recent retirement party, I heard the words “if you want something done... give it to a busy person.” How true that is. It seems that those whose lives are filled somehow find the energy and the strength to get one more thing done. I used to be that way – running from here to there – one job to another – never taking the time to even eat some days. It seemed like the more I did, the less I felt I did. It was weird! Until I slowed down and began to really examine the “why” behind what I was doing, did I begin to realize what a crazy trap I had fallen into. It became more about the doing then what I was doing. Slowing down, I began to see the things I was missing – like the smile on my children’s faces by just being there, the softness of my wife’s voice, or more importantly, the peace of the Lord I felt deep within me. I am glad I learned to slow down. Today verse speaks of finding that quiet place to rest a while… do you need to find that place with Him and rest in His arms?
