1 Corinthians 4:16 – “Therefore I exhort you, be imitators of me.” (NASB)
Growing up I loved playing it; so when I became a father, I couldn’t wait to play it with my children. It was simple game, no board, no pieces to move around, nothing but your voice. The game was called Simon Says - a game where the leader would say things to do like: touch your nose or put your hands on your hips. If the leader didn’t say Simon Says first, you didn’t have to do it, but if they did, you had to! The object was to be the last person-standing. If you messed up, you were out! Today’s verse speaks of being exhorted by Paul, to be imitators of him - who was an imitator of Christ. And like the game of Simon Says, if we don’t follow His lead, we will be out… yes, out. I know people struggle with that and say that all of us will go to heaven. Well, that’s not scriptural. We need to play by the rules of the game, except it isn’t a game, it’s life. So who are you imitating in your life?
