Proverbs 1:5 – “A wise man will hear and increase in learning and a man of understanding will acquire wise counsel…” (NASB)
"Yes, I saw the sign but didn't follow it!" While loading a young man into the ambulance, the police officer asked if he saw the sign. His reply was that he had, but he didn't follow it. It was a detour sign that was posted on the road directing traffic away from a dangerous place. The young man had seen the sign, but didn't follow where it led. He was involved in an accident and was hurt in the process. Today's verse states that a wise man will hear and increase learning and a man of understanding will acquire wise counsel. I can't help but think of a few wise men that we all have heard of this time of year, men who had seen a sign and follow where it led. If we see the sign during this season of His birth, will we follow where it is leading? Will we become wise men in finding the Savior of the World, or will we, like the young driver, miss the sign and end up in a bad situation? Let's not miss His sign this season. Follow the star to our Savior's birth! It will truly bring new life and lead us to a greater understanding of this thing called life.
