Philemon 1:4 – “I thank my God always when I remember you in my prayers…” (ESV)
Somethings are hard to forget. My breathing became harder; my pulse began to rise, and I wondered if this was the end. While fighting a house fire, I made it to the second floor when the attic stairs gave way and landed directly on me. Their weight was too much for me to move, and I found myself trapped beneath them. I know it was only a few minutes, but it seemed like a lifetime as I laid there and wondered if this was my last fire, my last breath. That's when he came, my partner, and found me trapped. He lifted the stairs up enough so I could crawl out. As today's verse shares, I thank my God for him (Tom Schrader) when I remember you in my prayers. Maybe being thankful shouldn't just be for one day. Maybe it can be a way of life… giving thanks for the things and people God brings across our path. As I bend a knee to thank my God for people like Tom that have crossed my path, I think of many who have helped me along the way. Maybe we can give God a big thank you for all those who have helped us in one way or another – some who have even saved our lives. Speaking of saving our lives, why not give Jesus a big thank you for His life offered for ours?
