Daily Devotional for Sunday December 17, 2017

Habakkuk 2:2 (NASB) Then the Lord answered me and said, “Record the vision And inscribe it on tablets, That the one who reads it may run.

How many of us have heard someone say, “The Bible is too tough to read especially the Old Testament.” How many of us have said it? How many of us have taken the time to really to read the Bible? As I laid in bed last night, I read the introduction of Proverbs in one of the many Bibles I have. It stated how Proverbs was a book of sayings and statements of wisdom that covered every aspect of human life—from business dealings to personal relationships including marriage. When we take the time to read it, we can agree that the book is full of wisdom. However, we need to take the time to read it giving God an opportunity to allow our minds and hearts to open up to the Spirit. I am fascinated that the Bible is so personal. You and I can read the same verse and the Spirit will speak to each of us for what He has for us. I pray that we take an honest moment and give God’s Word a change, but it’s a choice. I can sit on the couch and watch TV, or I can turn it off and read a verse or two. Choice… What will you choose today?

Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.

Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them as you read. Talk about their answers and show them that one important aspect of this chapter is that we must continue to spend time with the Lord and keep our hearts focused on His plans and purposes. Pray for them.
