Daily Devotional for Friday December 15, 2017

Philippians 3:14 (NASB) I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

The road was blocked, but we knew we had to get there. While responding to a fire call during rush hour, the street was congested with cars. Each car lane blocked, but the report was that there were people trapped in the building. Today's verse speaks of pressing on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. We could have sat and waited for the traffic to clear, but our duty was to respond… to respond in the best way possible to fight the fire. So, our driver took a different route. We had a responsibility to the people in the city and in the house. We had to press on. Many times, in life, we will come across road blocks… things that will keep us from moving forward. If we are committed to the cause of Christ, we must push through… if for no other reason than love. In a few short weeks, we will celebrate the birth of our Savior, but we must never forget the cost of His life... the cross that waited for Him to be endured for us. I think we can get past a few road blocks for Him, don't ya think? Press on for no other reason than the love of Christ!

Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.

Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them as you read. Talk about their answers and show them that one important aspect of this chapter is that we must continue to spend time with the Lord and keep our hearts focused on His plans and purposes. Pray for them.
