Daily Devotional for Wednesday December 06, 2017

Matthew 24:44 (NASB) For this reason you also must be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will.

With the reports coming in, I should have expected it. My phone began to ring off the hook and text messages began to come in at a fast pace. Living in the north with the reports of the first major snowstorm about to come, people began to prepare. They were looking at their snow blowers that sat quietly for months. Today's verse speaks of being ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when we do not think He will. We know the season the snow will come, but being ready for it is another thing all together. Many put off being ready until the day or two before the weather reports predict a serious snow storm, thus my phone blowing up with those seeking some guidance on why their snow blowers weren't starting or running properly. There is one thing for sure living in this area, snow will be coming! It's the same with Jesus Christ. He will be coming back and being ready means being prepared. Have you been waiting too long to get a tune up for His return?

Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.

Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them as you read. Talk about their answers and show them that one important aspect of this chapter is that we must continue to spend time with the Lord and keep our hearts focused on His plans and purposes. Pray for them.
