Daily Devotional for Sunday August 05, 2018

Scripture:

Romans 15:4 – “For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.” (NASB)

Observation:

It's on the first page. Looking through the instruction manual of a new tool I had purchased, I saw the all familiar words that are written in every manual about using every power tool - Safety First! Be sure to read all the safety tips before using! There it was again, it comes on the first page of every manual of every power tool. I had found myself just glancing at the words as I have read those words many times. As I turned the page, I thought better of it and went back to make sure I read them for they are important! Today's verse tells us about the written Word from long ago. How it was written for our instruction. I would go so far as to say our safety as well. The key is whether we just skim through His Word, like I did with the safety instructions, or do we take the time to read, mediate, and make sure we understand what the Word is all about. Maybe some of us don't even read His Word daily and head out to try and live life without making sure we are safe. Something to think about as we face the week - Safety First!
