2 Corinthians 13:11 – “Finally, brothers, rejoice. Aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.” (NASB)
It didn't just happen at home. While playing some after school sports, another young boy and I happened to get into a fight. I don't even remember what it was about, but I remember the outcome. The gentleman in charge that day sat us both down and began to explain to us the difference between right and wrong. At the end of the talk, he made us shake hands. It just so happened that I am Caucasian and the other boy was African American. I remembered as I shook hands with him how my dad had made me do the same thing to my own brother after we had a disagreement. Today's verse speaks to this very point. “Brothers,” it says, “aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace, and God will be with you.” I wonder if somewhere along the lines in this world we stopped shaking hands. We stopped loving each other, not just in our homes, but out on the street too. Maybe, just maybe, it's time we shake hands and aim for restoration in comfort and love. I think our world needs it. I think our world needs God!
