Romans 8:18 – “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.” (NASB)
“Let's have pie,” for no other reason than it was her favorite. I am sure we have all heard the old familiar saying, “Times heals all wounds.” I guess the person who said it never lost a loved one. Time does make it easier, but still there's that sense of loss, the ache of a heart, the fond memories and wishing we had just one more day with them. We recently celebrated what would have been my mom's birthday - a day to eat pie. She wasn't much into birthday cakes. Sadly, she has passed on to a better life, and I hold today's verse close to my heart because I know I have a little of the glory revealed to me of where she is. She is resting with Jesus with no more pain, no more suffering, and for that I am truly thankful. However, the loss is still something we have to live with. I end today's devotion by saying something she would have said to me, “Love. Love all those in your life. Tell them you love them. Hug them. Give them a great big squeeze so they feel the love, and don't stop loving each other. For you never know when they will be called home!” Love on someone today. I you're blessed to have your mother still with you - give her a call, spend some time with her. Make some wonderful memories cause one day that's all you'll have - miss ya mom!
