Hebrews 13:7 – “Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith.” (NASB)
Under – Under – Over, Under – Under – Over. It seems like a simple process to remember, but as I learned how to tie a clove hitch knot, I could hear those words over and over from my instructor. It was a simple way to remember how to flip the rope to get the desired knot. I remembered those words as I taught a few boys that were interested in learning about ropes and knots, but words are one thing. To actually see someone do the hand motions brings the understanding of the words to life. Today's scriptures talks to us about remembering those who led us, those who have shared God's Word with us, and not only to consider their words, but their conduct as well. Those are the ones we are to imitate. It’s one thing to say, “Do as I say,” but quite another to say, “Do as I do.” Are our words reflected by our actions? Will someone be able to understand His Word by how we live them out? Remember, like the knot, if we don't do it right, we will get all tangled up and that's "knot" a lie.
