Colossians 3:2 – “Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.” (NASB)
“We never thought to look up.” That was the reply that the home owner said as we finished putting out the fire. They decided to deep fry a turkey on their porch. What they didn't realize was that the heat from the cooker eventually heated the snow that had piled up on the roof until it melted and began to slide off the roof - right into the cooker causing the hot oil to overflow and be ignited by the heating element. This caused the house to catch fire. Today's verse gives us some great advice about where we should be looking to set our mind on things above not on the things of this earth. I don't know if you've heard but people are walking around looking at their phones as they play a silly game of finding things. It has caused people to get hit by cars, crash their vehicles, and walk into poles and each other in their attempt to keep their eyes on this world. Whether we are playing the game or just trying to get through this thing called life, we should always keep our eyes above. We may just miss a blessing or two that He sends our way.
