1 Corinthians 10:13 – “No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.” (NASB)

It was hot. We were exhausted, but we kept going. Putting out grass fires on the fire dept. meant doing whatever it took no matter how hot it was or how exhausting it became. While working a rather large grass fire, we resorted to using brooms to beat out the leading edge of the fire while other crews came alongside and used water to put out the hot spots. The temperature of the day was nearing 80 degrees, and we had been at it for a few hours. However, we did not give up or give in. Today's verse speaks about temptation and that it has not overtaken us. God will not allow us to be tempted beyond what we are able to bear. He will provide a way of escape for us. In life, we will face temptations. We may find them exhausting, but we must keep fighting the fight. Eventually, like the grass fire, it will go out! Fight the fight! Use whatever means possible, and keep strong for His word tells us we will be able to endure.
