Daily Devotional for Monday April 30, 2018

1 Timothy 4:15 (ESV) Practice these things, immerse yourself in them, so that all may see your progress.

As we began to dig the foundation for the addition on the customer’s home, he asked a simple question, “Do we have to go that deep?” The building code was set for a purpose, so the foundation was below the frost line which kept the structure safe from upheaval of frozen ground. Today's verse speaks about practicing things, to immerse ourselves. It is referring to the things of God. The reply to the homeowner was a resounding yes. Going deep will keep your house safe. Not unlike going deep in God's Word to protect our walk with Christ. Would you just eat the frosting on a cake or do you want to go deep and get a whole piece of cake? That’s the only way you get the delicious filling inside. Be sure to go deep in God's Word because there is a delicious filling inside too!

Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.

Family Devotion: Read this chapter with your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them and discuss. Pray with them.
