Daily Devotional for Thursday April 26, 2018

1 Peter 1:15 (ESV) but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct…

It was time. Many times, at the firehouse, we like to joke around. Maybe it's the fact that we face death each time the bell rings. We find ourselves heading to the next fire, so we joke around probably more than others. This time, however, it was time to be serious. Today's verse speaks about being holy as He is holy in all our conduct. The life hung in the balance literally. We had to remove the fire victim through the window and lower them to the ground. There was no time for joking or horseplay. It was time to be serious and pay attention to every detail. In life, there are those times when horseplay is just not acceptable. I guess you could say that it's like being holy... paying attention to every detail of God's Word. Shouldn't that be all the time though? Even in our joking around, we still need to be sure our conduct aligns with His Holiness.

Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.

Family Devotion: Read this chapter with your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them and discuss. Pray with them.
