Daily Devotional for Thursday April 25, 2019

John 10:10 “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” (NASB)

We didn't get there in time. Maybe there was nothing we could have done, but either way, it didn't end well. We responded to a fire call with the report of a man trapped inside. Each crew raced to the scene and began to search desperately for him. Eventually, we found his charred body and no signs of life. Today's verse speaks of Satan and Jesus - one comes to steal, kill, and destroy and the other comes to bring life and life abundantly. There was nothing we could have done to save the man we found in the building. Death had taken its toll, but for us, death doesn't have to be the end. I couldn't help the man in the building, but maybe I can help you. You see, we all face death. We are, in fact, racing towards death at 60 seconds a minute, and although I could do nothing to stop death for that man in the fire, I can do something before death comes to you. I want to introduce you to Jesus Christ. He is the One in today's verse who brings life and life abundantly in this world and for all eternity. All you need to do is repent, and ask Jesus to come into your heart as Lord and Savior. Maybe you've never had the opportunity to meet Jesus. Don't wait till tomorrow. You may not get another chance.
