Daily Devotional for Sunday April 22, 2018

Scripture:

1 John 3:18 (NASB) Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.

Observation:

We may not think of ourselves as children, but sometimes, we need the mind of a child to be open to what God is trying to say to us. Over the years, there have been tragedies that can shake our world. Tragedies that take loved ones away. So, I ask you to hug those around you - those whom you call family and friends - realizing how fast all can be taken away. Caring and loving each other is something that we must do better. No longer just lip service, but it’s time we roll up our sleeves and get to work. We can continue to make excuses, or we can die to ourselves and gain Christ and love. If we get by the lies and see the truth, we may have a chance. For many years, I lied to the fact that I treated my wife and children terribly. The lie was that it was not my fault. It was things that they were doing. Hogwash! It was me and the choices I made. It hurt to admit that, but through the grace of God, His love for me, and His truth, my blind eyes were open. Isn’t it time we all take a good look at ourselves and how we care for others? Maybe we can stop the next tragedy by reaching out and loving.

Application:

Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.

Family Devotion: Read this chapter with your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them and discuss. Pray with them.
