Daily Devotional for Wednesday April 18, 2018

Scripture:

Colossians 4:5 (ESV) Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time.

Observation:

It was a lesson I learned from my parents. When I was old enough to get my first apartment and start paying my own bills, I remember my dad teaching me to look at the utility bills and see the total usage. That way I would be aware of how I was spending my time and money. Today's verse speaks of walking in wisdom and making the best use of our time. Each bill had the amount of usage whether it is water, gas, electric etc. and it made me think about ow much actual time I spend in God's Word. I don’t mean just glancing at it, but actually taking the time to meditate upon His Word and His promises to me. I wonder if the amount of time I spend in His Word correlates to the amount of wisdom I have and how I treat others. If we were to measure our time in His Word, what would it add up to? Whether it's a few minutes each day or hours at a time, the bill is still the same... FREE!!

Application:

Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.

Family Devotion: Read this chapter with your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them and discuss. Pray with them.
