Daily Devotional for Sunday April 01, 2018

Matthew 27:54 (ESV) When the centurion and those who were with him, keeping watch over Jesus, saw the earthquake and what took place, they were filled with awe and said, “Truly this was the Son of God!”

Even though I witnessed it, I still couldn't believe it. When we responded to the accident scene, we found bystanders lifting the car up so they could pull the young boy out from underneath it. Today's verse describes those who were with Jesus during His Crucifixion, and when it was over then they believed. Although I watched as the boy was pulled out and the people put the car back down, I found it hard to believe. Sometimes in life, when it comes to the things of the Lord, we may find ourselves not believing until we see it. Even then, we may not believe - that people can be healed in His name, that lives can be changed when given over to Him, that we will understand what true love is when we take a moment and look upon the cross. Don't wait till life is over to believe, but believe today that He truly is the Son of God and invite Him into your heart. You too will be filled with awe, I know I am.

Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.

Family Devotion: Read this chapter with your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them and discuss. Pray with them.
