Daily Devotional for Friday September 08, 2017

Scripture:

Psalm 34:18 (NASB) The Lord is near to the brokenhearted And saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Observation:

I wish I could say they all ended this way. He stood on the street and cried. As the tears rolled down his face, he kept saying, "They have to find him!" The fire call came in with a report of a young boy trapped in a home that was on fire. When we arrived, the father stood with the rest of his family and cried that he still had one son unaccounted for. Today's verse shares that the Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. The father, crushed in spirit over the missing son, cried out. His story ended with the firefighters finding his son and bringing him to safety. The Lord heard his cries and answered. Not all are found, but those who believe in Jesus Christ, are found written in the Book of Life and will spend eternity with Him. God cries out for those of us who are lost in life. He wants nothing more than for us to be saved. Is your name written in the Book of Life? Not sure what that Book is? You can find out more by reading God's Word, the Bible. It states that those who know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and repent of their sin, will be added to the Book of Life. A better ending than anything on this earth. If you're searching, cry out to God. If you're hurting and broken-hearted, cry out to God. If you’re crushed in spirit, cry out to God. He will answer and you will be found!

Application:

Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.

Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them as you read. Talk about their answers and show them that one important aspect of this chapter is that we must continue to spend time with the Lord and keep our hearts focused on His plans and purposes. Pray for them.
