Daily Devotional for Friday June 09, 2017

Scripture:

Proverbs 3:5 (NASB) Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding.

Observation:

I was reminded again why I carry a paper copy. While traveling to a men's conference, I relied on my GPS to get me to where I needed to be. The only problem I had was that the location was deep in the woods on a far away mountain top. So, when the GPS went blank, I didn't know where to turn. Today's verse speaks of trusting in the Lord with all our heart and not to lean on our own understanding. I had made the mistake of just relying on the GPS unit to get me there. For years, I had always printed out a paper copy, but this time I leaned on my GPS which had gone dead. Many of us carry around our phones, iPads, and tech gadgets to read God's Word; the comfort of having it right there is truly a blessing, but when they go dead I wonder if we have the paper copy to fall back on. Yes, I speak of the written Word of God, the Bible. I wonder why we seem to have left the printed Word and relied on our tech gadgets. When they go dead, how will we know where to turn? Don't be afraid to carry your Bible around. You may just find it helps when everything goes blank!

Application:

Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.

Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them as you read. Talk about their answers and show them that one important aspect of this chapter is that we must continue to spend time with the Lord and keep our hearts focused on His plans and purposes. Pray for them.
