Daily Devotional for Saturday June 03, 2017

Scripture:

Colossians 3:9 (NASB) Do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices

Observation:

It is a sad fact of life, but we must admit that we lie—each of us at one time or another has told a false truth. Some of us live a life of falsehood, keeping that deep dark secret within us. Thinking about it when we begin to get close to God –the Holy Spirit convicts us about it, but we continue to lie to ourselves. “It’s not that bad.” “What will they think of me when it gets out?” For me, it was the yelling at home. No one outside my immediate family knew—not the guys I worked with or the people at my church. Everyone thought I was this great guy. However, deep inside I was hurting. The lies were adding up and the pain of my lies was hurting people that I loved. I needed to be set free. When I came clean with it all and came to Christ, repented, and asked for forgiveness of Him and those involved, I received a peace—deep down peace within me. It is so wonderful! I give God the glory. You can have this too. You can have a peace about the situation that you’re in right now. The truth will set you free. So, give it a try. God will be there. Start today and find the peace that comes with no more lies.

Application:

Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.

Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them as you read. Talk about their answers and show them that one important aspect of this chapter is that we must continue to spend time with the Lord and keep our hearts focused on His plans and purposes. Pray for them.
