Proverbs 4:25 (NASB) Let your eyes look directly ahead And let your gaze be fixed straight in front of you.
I had taken my eyes off of it for a second and missed it. Whether you're looking into the sky to watch fireworks, driving down the road getting ready to exit the highway, or nailing a board down, if you take your eyes off for a second you will miss the target you were aiming for. Today's verse speaks of keeping our eyes looking directly ahead of you and our gaze fixed straight in front of us. Maybe you've heard the statement that the windshield is larger than the rear view mirror for a reason... to see what's ahead and not so much of what's behind. Sitting around with my daughters, I realized that I had taken my eyes off of them for a second while they were young girls and now they are mature women. Where does the time go? Maybe we should keep our eyes focused on what's right in front of us so that we don't miss the opportunities to enjoy the moment. That goes for the things of God as well. Living in the divine moment means keeping our eyes focused where He is directing us. Anything else would be looking away, and that means missing the blessings and opportunities to share Him with others. So, keep focus as we do this thing called life for it can be over in the twinkling of an eye!
