Daily Devotional for Saturday December 16, 2017

Scripture:

Hebrews 4:12 (NASB) For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Observation:

I was in a book store recently. As I was walking down the aisles, I found myself in the self-help section. There are hundreds of books here! “How to be a Better Employee,” or “How to Succeed in Life.” There’s “How to Lose Weight” everywhere! But when you go to the religious aisle and look at the Bibles, there aren’t too many people there. If we were going on a journey or a trip. Don’t we read the maps and pamphlets available to make sure we don’t go the wrong way or miss the important things? This life is a journey. One of growing to maturity, and we all will leave here someday and go on to eternity. Why wouldn’t we read the best instructions before leaving earth? I pray that you take some time and open God’s Word to read the best book available to us about life.

Application:

Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.

Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them as you read. Talk about their answers and show them that one important aspect of this chapter is that we must continue to spend time with the Lord and keep our hearts focused on His plans and purposes. Pray for them.
