Daily Devotional for Monday August 07, 2017

Scripture:

Romans 15:3 (NASB) For even Christ did not please Himself; but as it is written, “The reproaches of those who reproached you fell on Me.”

Observation:

Love can make all the difference in a person’s life. It can brighten a day and be a reason to face the difficulties of life. The list is endless, but because of love, we are given an opportunity to spend eternity with God in heaven. I thank God that Jesus never said (while walking to the cross), “If Tom doesn’t love me, then I am not going to go through all this pain and suffering for him. He needs to love me first; then I will love him.” Jesus loves us knowing that we will fall short and fail to make the right choices and even choose to turn our back on Him. Yet, He walked to the cross for you and for me. That’s LOVE! Today’s verse states that Christ did not please Himself and that the reproaches that fall on us fell on Him. Standing up for Christ will bring persecution, hatred, and moments of pain, but Jesus took them all for us at the cross. Don’t you think we can endure for Him in the name of LOVE?

Application:

Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.

Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them as you read. Talk about their answers and show them that one important aspect of this chapter is that we must continue to spend time with the Lord and keep our hearts focused on His plans and purposes. Pray for them.
